    : A 33-year-old man from Kolovai was hunted by a Police Tactical Response Group and arrested after he allegedly shot a man with a rifle at a home in Fo'ui on May 23. The victim is reported to be in a stable condition at Vaiola Hospital with injuries on his upper left arm.

    : Tonga government officials told a Chinese business delegation that they would review a policy that imposes 15% consumption tax on business investments in Tonga. They also told the potential investors that tourism is "Tonga's most vibrant industry" and that Tonga has fish to give for fishing boats and it will speed up its process of issuing licenses to fish in Tonga's waters.

    : A man is in Vaiola Hospital with injuries, after he was allegedly shot by another man at Fo'ui, on western Tongatapu, yesterday evening. The shooter has been arrested said Tonga Police today, who are investigating the incident.

    : A strong 7.4Mw tremor rattled Nuku'alofa before dawn for over a minute starting at 6:19am. Two aftershocks, including 6.6Mw were felt in Nuku'alofa after 10:00am. The first 7.4Mw earthquake was centred south of Fiji and Tonga at a depth of about 170km-208km in an area of the Tonga-Kermadec arc that has frequent moderate to large deep earthquakes. The deep earthquakes are generally less hazardous than shallow earthquakes.

    : An increasing number of Tonga's youth are found to have diabetes, a disease that is incurable, and many of them have contracted diabetes because they eat the wrong foods. A Tonga Youth Diabetes Study Report 2013, released last week recommends a national screening of youths for the disease along with a national awareness campaign.
