    : Tonga’s second repatriation flight arrived this afternoon with 150 passengers coming from New Zealand. One very happy family was waiting beside the road at Fua'amotu village near the airport, to welcome home one of the passengers, a 70-year-old father and grandfather, whom they hoped could see them as the quarantine buses left the airport.

He did not explain the reason for her admission to Vaiola Hospital. Meanwhile, the first group pf 57 repatriated passengers who arrived from Fiji on July 11, completed their additional seven days of home quarantine with no symptoms recorded.

    : Israel Folau has become the target of social media backlash for being the only player not to participate in a pre-kickoff ‘kneel down’ (to show solidarity with “Black Lives Matter”) in round three of the Super League tournament yesterday 2 August, where Folau’s team the Catalan Dragons suffered a heavy defeat to the St Helen Saints 34 – 6. The kneel down ritual was organized by Super League players to show solidarity with “Black Lives Matter” – a controversial activist movement in the United States that protests police brutality and racial profiling against African Americans. Public opinion is mixed over the movement with critics accusing it of promoting riots.

    : The Lord Chief Justice quashed a Senior Magistrate’s decision and reinstated the guilty plea of man accused of theft. He returned the case for sentencing at the lower court in Nuku’alofa. The appeal included grounds that the Magistrate erred in law.
