    : THE Dawn Princess, the first cruise ship to visit Tongatapu this year, arrived in the Nuku'alofa harbour this morning following early morning thunderstorms. The 77,000 tons cruise ship with over 1,000 passengers on board berthed at Queen Salote Wharf at 9:00am before departing at 5:00pm for Vava'u. The Dawn Princess from Australia is on a 35 days cruise that departed Sydney on April 3 and will visit other Pacific Island destinations such as the Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Samoa, Fiji and Hawaii before May 8. The Ministry of Tourism is expecting 11 cruise ships to visit Tonga this year, a decline from the 23 that visited last year.

The Ministry is happy to report that the press conference did achieve its goal. Even those who still wanted their reports there and then did understand that the delay would be very brief, and that it was properly caused by the rules of operation, and not by any improper motives or actions.

    : NOBLE Kalaniuvalu (37) is reported to have died suddenly in Auckland, New Zealand last night, and this has been confirmed today by Tongans in New Zealand and Tonga who are close to the family. Kalaniuvalu is the eldest son of Princess Mele Siu'ilikutapu and the late Kalaniuvalu Fotofili. Kalaniuvalu, since 2004 has been working with the Ministry of Lands as its Deputy Physical planner. Kalaniuvalu was recently married to Ma'asi Manu on January 9, the day after his 37th birthday. The estates of Noble Kalaniuvalu are: Lapaha, Hoi, Nukuleka, Makaunga, Hamula and Toloa.
