Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Violence, intimidation, control and isolation are being used against women in Tonga by some husbands who are seeking to gain "coercive control". Examples of some of the coercive control situations and real cases in Tonga included a man beating up his wife causing injuries to prevent her from going to an event, locking her up in a room when he leaves the house, calling her "ugly and stupid" or threatening her via text messaging. -

Sacramento-California, USA : A Californian court has scheduled a murder trial for two young men of Tongan descent, Tevita Kaihea (21) and Charlie Hola (21), both of Sacramento. The pair have been held in custody since 2015 when they were allegedly involved in a brawl that resulted in the shooting death of a 25-year-old college student Roman Gonzalez in the parking lot of a local college campus. Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Serial armed robber and prisoner escapee, Viliami Kupu (22), has received a sentence of four years of imprisonment for the armed robbery of a store in January this year.
