    : A father of six children, Alani Afu (51), who was extradicted from Tonga to Australia in 2016 on murder charges, was yesterday convicted of murder by the New South Wales Supreme Court in relation to the stabbing death of a Sydney woman Rita Caleo in 1990. Rita’s husband Mark Caleo was found guilty of hiring Alani to carry out the murder.

    : The Tonga Men’s 7s team finished in 22nd place out of 24 teams at the 2018 Sevens Rugby World Cup in San Francisco between 20 – 22 July. Tonga suffered three defeats to Kenya 19 – 7, Chile 33 – 29 and Papua New Guinea 31 - 14. Their only win came against Zimbabwe 31 – 5.
