    : On February 17 the World Bank and the Government of Tonga signed a US$27 million grant to make air travel safer and more efficient for people travelling to and from Tonga. The investment is part of the World Bank's regional Pacific Aviation Investment Program, and will support rehabilitation of Fua'amotu International Airport and Vava'u Airport to ensure both meet minimum international safety and security standards.

    Flooded home at Hala'ovave, Tongatapu after Cyclone Jasmine

    : Tropical Cyclone Jasmine dumped over half the month's average rainfall onto Tongatapu on Wednesday, flooding large areas of the capital Nuku'alofa and surrounding villages, forcing hundreds of people from their homes, and bringing down power poles, electric lines and trees. But Jasmine's heady aroma was not so sweet.

    : Tonga A's 30 man squad for the Pacific Rugby Cup Tournament 2012 will play Australia's Waratahs on February 17, in the first leg of the tournament in Sydney. Head Coach 'Isitolo Maka selected the Tonga A squad before they departed Tonga on February 14. The team includes the best of the local rugby players led by Finau Tupa, a talented back rower from Fasi Ma'ufanga Rugby Club.
