Tributes are flowing in for 21-year-old Siosifa Maama of Los Angeles who tragically passed away five days ago. Sifa worked as a security guard and was shot during an attempted armed robbery of a store that he was guarding on the evening of June 19.

A towering 12-year-old boy of Tongan descent, Petelo Lemeki, was the centre of attention last week at an under-13’s rugby tournament in New Zealand. Petelo reportedly stands 6’2" tall (188 cms) and weighs 121 Kilos, and wears size-14 rugby boots..

Ten Miss Galaxy contestants showcased their spectacular "own creations" in the pageant’s first judging event last night, 12 July, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall. Through their creative outfits, the contestants urged people to recycle material and ensure rubbish is thrown in bins or taken to the dumpsite to keep the country clean.

King Tupou VI on 22 June 2017 appointed three new "Law Lords". Mrs Linda Simiki Folaumoetu’i (Tonga's first woman Law Lord), Mr Michael Dishington Scott K.C. and Mr Tu’inukutavake Barron Afeaki become members of two standing committees of the Privy Council.

Nine Miss Heilala contestants have registered to take part in the pageant to be held July 1-7 in Nuku’alofa. The contestants who are 19 to 23 years old come from Tonga, United States and New Zealand.

Elizabeth Kite (26) will proudly receive the Queen’s Young Leaders Award from HM Queen Elizabeth II on 29 June in London, for her work leading to educational initiatives for young people and those living with disabilities in Tonga.
