Chancellor of the University, Governor General of the Solomon Islands HE Sir David Vunagi, presented the certificates, and degrees.

US Peace Corps in Tonga welcomed nine new volunteer teachers today at the start of a redeployment of volunteers in Tonga. Peace Corps Group 85 made their pledge of service before the US Ambassador Marie Damour, at a swearing in ceremony held at the Kupesi Hotel, Fua’amotu.

A Free Breakfasts for Schools programme, launched last week by the government in an effort to improve child nutrition and well-being, has met with some hiccups. Breakfasts provided by the Ministry of Education and Training have started to roll out to primary and middle schools across the country but supply issues mean that the programme is not up to full speed yet and some missed out.

New Zealand Universities are now accepting students who have completed the Tongan National Form Seven Certificate (TNFSC) programme. Tonga's Prime Minister's Office announced on 4 August, that the qualification has been accepted as "meeting the minimum requirements" for entrance to a New Zealand University.
