Eleven students who have been awarded the Chinese Government's scholarships in the past three-years attended a reception, on 3 September. The students were not able to travel to China, due to the COVID-19 situation, however, the Embassy will cover their travel expenses, now that the borders have re-opened.

A new classroom building for Government Middle School Mu’a (‘Api ko Fakala’aa) was commissioned by the Prime Minister and Minister of Education Hon. Hu’akavameiliku on 19 August.

Twenty-two Chinese scholarships were awarded to high school students by Princess Pilolevu Tuita on 15 July in Nuku'alofa. Since 2017, the scholarships have been promoting educational exchange and closer ties between China and Tonga.

A Safer Schools Program aims to reduce risks by strengthening school infrastructure against the impacts of natural disasters. The World Bank's emergency finance package to support Tonga’s post-disaster recovery and reconstruction needs will include building more disaster resilient schools.

Beulah Adventist College has boosted its computerised education with the launching of new network infrastructure and technology teaching and learning facilities, on May 26 at the Vaini campus. The Prime Minister Hon Hu’akavameiliku commended the school on its milestone achievement.

There will be no more national examinations for Form 5 students in Tonga starting from this year, confirmed Prime Minister Hon H’uakavameiliku (Siaosi Sovaleni) at a press conference yesterday, 9 March.
