Tonga’s sole domestic air carrier Real Tonga is concerned over the impact on the domestic service when Fiji Airways begins direct international flights to Vava'u from Nadi and Apia in November because it may impact Real Tonga's ability to subsidise services to the smaller Tongan islands.

A monster Blue Marlin weighing 268.5 kg caught in Vava‘u today, landed Denise Knutson a new Tongan record. Denise and her husband Ross were fishing on their boat Escapade NZ.

Two women, Denise Knutson and Lesley Longdon, were the top anglers in the annual Tongan International Billfish Tournament held in Vava’u, Tonga, last week, 5-9 September 2014. The heaviest Blue Marlin at 171.5kg was caught by Greg Haliday.
