Wind power energy may be the next big source of renewable energy, after solar energy, to help reduce Tonga’s heavy reliance on diesel for power generation. Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is preparing to carry out a six-months feasibility study on wind power.

A trial to hear an election petition against Hon ‘Etuate Lavulavu for alleged corruption during his election campaign last year will go ahead on 25 November, after the Chief Justice dismissed two applications by Lavulavu, made on 13 November, for the trial to be adjourned. The Chief Justice stated "This court must...ensure the just but efficient and speedy hearing of an electoral petition and to discourage frivolous applications which have been the intention or effect of delaying the hearing."

"I can see the red glow of a raging fire on Late now at 20:23... it is heartbreaking," said biologist Nadya Zvyagina on Friday night from Fangasito, Vava'u. There is a lot of dead wood on the island after Cyclone Ian.
