Tonga Police have released the names of three people who died after a fatal crash on Hihifo Road at 'Ahau early Saturday morning 2 July. They are Kalolaine Quick of the Heilala Holiday Lodge at Kanokupolu, Lower Leaving Ma'u from Haveluloto and an off duty policeman Scott 'Ungo'unga. His wife Vai 'Ungo'unga remains in a critical condition in Vaiola Hospital.

A ban on selling bread on Sundays will be enforced tomorrow, July 3. The ban, which was pushed for by church leaders and supported by members of parliament, re-enforces one of Tonga’s oldest laws, which forbids commercial undertakings on the Sabbath. However, owners of Tonga’s two biggest bakeries told Matangi Tonga Online that the ban would likely result in job losses because bakeries have been trading on Sunday for over 30 years.

Tonga Communications Corporation handed over a dividend cheque of $1.213 million pa'anga to the Government of Tonga as shareholder in the full and final dividend payment for the last financial year 2014-15. This is the second consecutive year that TCC is paying a dividend in excess of $1 million pa'anga, and growing rapidly year on year over the last five years.
