    : Royal Agricultural Shows for Tonga’s two northern outer islands of Niuatoputapu and Niuafo’ou will be held this month after an eight-year lapse. King Tupou VI will be the guest of honour starting in Niuatoputapu on August 7 and Niuafo’ou on August 8, and continuing throughout all of Tonga island groups.

    : Tonga’s 13th and final military contingent deployed to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) returned to Tonga on Monday, July 29. RAMSI marked its 10th year anniversary last week in Honiara ending the military component of the mission from Participating Forces.

    : A total of 150 accused, including 147 students from Tupou College and three adults, have been charged in relation to the violent attack at a home in Tofoa on July 18. A new charge of unlawful assembly has been filed against each of the accused who have all been released on bail until October.

    : Twenty-two of the Tupou College accused who remain in police custody today have been variously charged with trespassing, housebreaking and causing grievous bodily harm. One student has been charged with attempted arson, while a Tupou College teacher and a bus driver have been charged with aiding criminal damage and are remanded in custody.

    : Charges have been laid against 147 accused students and ex-students from Tupou College, who have each been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit willful damage to a building in regards to an attack at a home in Tofoa on Thursday night, July 18. Tonga Police said 75 were released on bail to July 29, while 72 accused remained in custody. New charges may be laid later.
