Taunga Island, Vava'u : Tonga's first luxury five star hotel is to be built on the small island of Taunga in Vava'u by Warwick International Hotels, whose president and founder Richard Chiu announced on the island yesterday that he expects construction to start at the end of 2010 or early 2011.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga : Rev Dr Tevita Haukinima a Director of the Shipping Corporation of Polynesia Ltd. accepted that the Board and Company Secretary failed to conduct proper due diligence of the Ashika, prior to their recommendation for purchase. He also admitted to the Ashika Inquiry that he had long forgotten his obligations as a director under the Public Service Act. Premium content -

Pangai, Ha'apai : Both the MV Pulupaki and the MV Punalei are now tied up at the wharf here in Pangai, Ha'apai. The report from crew members of the MV Punalei is that "It almost sank" before the MV Pulupaki towed it into Ha'apai. It appears that there are serious problems with this vessel. Premium content -
