The Chinese Embassy in Nuku’alofa came out for the first time today to state that its gifted MA60 aircraft to Tonga was verified by China’s aviation airworthiness standard, and that while it satisfies requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) the manufacturer had not applied for certifications in countries where it did not operate.

The Sea Princess from Australia visited Nuku’alofa in the weekend with nearly 2,000 passengers. It berthed at the new Vuna Wharf and many of its passengers were out visiting shops and cafes in the Central Business District.

Two accommodation providers in Tonga have been awarded certificates of excellence from a popular travel website after guests posted good reviews of the hospitality they received at the locations. The Blue Banana Beach House at Kanokupolu was was rated the best B&B and Inn on Tongatapu.

A M-60 aircraft gifted to Tonga from China is expected to arrive in early July. The aircraft owned by the Tongan Government will be operated by Real Tonga Airline under a dry-lease arrangement, the Acting Prime Minister Hon. Samiu Vaipulu said today.
