'Ilaisaane Fifita and Sisikula Sisifa, both 31, became the first Pacific academics at the University of Auckland’s Business School, graduating with doctoral degrees today, Tuesday 27 September. 'Ilaisaane's work examining non-smokers, shows that marketing skills can be used to improve the consumer wellbeing and the welfare of society. Sisikula in her work found that cultural differences in thinking about management practices undermine the success of development projects.

The fate of three young men tried for serious housebreaking and theft is expected to be delivered this week in a Supreme Court verdict. The three contractual workers were jointly charged of serious housebreaking and theft of more than $20,000 pa'anga cash from Pactrade Tonga in March this year.

The Ha'apai solar farm project - an on-grid project which will become the first utility scale solar energy generation facility in Ha’apai - was visited yesterday by Australian Minister, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells and her delegation who were welcomed by Tonga Power Ltd. staff and the Governor of Ha'apai, Mo’ale Finau. Australia has contributed AUD$5.7 million towards Tonga's Outer Islands Renewable Energy Project in co-financing with the Asian Development Bank and the European Union.
