The President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach arrived in Tonga for a short visit to show solidarity, after the devastation caused by the volcanic eruption and tsunamis on 15 January. He also expressed great appreciation for TASANOC and the Olympic team of six Tongan athletes who overcame so many obstacles to get to the Olympics last year.
