Six leaders in Tonga’s sporting community today attained official regional certification from the Oceania National Olympic Committee, strengthening Tonga’s capacity to deliver high-quality community and specialised sports education.
Under the Oceania Sport Education Program (OSEP), Master Educator qualifications were awarded to Salote Sisifa (CEO Tonga Netball Assoc.), Uinita Tauhalaliku (Tonga Netball) and Tavake Fangupo (General Manager NRL Tonga). They are accredited to deliver and assess specialised OSEP courses, and to mentor future Educators
Three officials were certified as Educators. Lavelua Taulahi (Tonga Netball), Maikolo Fonua, and Siu’ivahamama’o Fangupo, are qualified to deliver key community-level OSEP courses that build foundational skills for coaches, officials, and administrators.

Tonga Association of Sport and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) Secretary General and CEO, Netina Latu Vea, said having these professionally accredited officials based locally ensured that the country’s capacity in sport development would continue to be led by Tongans, for Tongans.
“These individuals are now better equipped to strengthen sports systems across Tonga,” she said.
“This aligns with TASANOC’s broader goals of promoting quality, inclusive, and sustainable sport development at both grassroots and elite levels.”
