Tonga will host the the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meetings from 26 - 30 August, 2024 in Nuku'alofa, with the theme "Transformative Resilient Pasifiki; Build Better Now." Last night, HRH Crown Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala unveiled the Government's chosen theme and logo at a special launch event attended by the Forum Secretary General Mr Henry Puna, at the Fa'onelua Convention Center, in Nuku'alofa.

Tonga's Customs officials have seized 137.36 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia that were concealed in a metal drum containing personal items, and intercepted at a customs warehouse in Ma'ufanga on 4 April. They were consigned to a 45 year old Tongan female from Kolofo'ou, Tongatapu, who has been apprehended.

Hydraulics complications occurred mid-flight, before the Lulutai Airlines Saab 340B lost control while taxiing, after landing at Fua'amotu with a full load of passengers in December last year.
