Tonga Rugby League has announced its 18 man squad for this Saturday’s May 7 Pacific Test Match against Samoa at Pirtek Stadium in Parramatta. Samoa narrowly won last year’s Pacific test match by 18 to 16. Fiji will play Papua New Guinea at the same venue.

Tonga has been excluded from the 2016 World Rugby U20 Trophy tournament. Fiji and Samoa are both currently competing in the competition which commenced last week in Zimbabwe. The annual U20 Trophy tournament hosts second tier nations who did not qualify for the premium U20 World Rugby Championship.

Rugby players of Tongan heritage are filling up the team rosters in America’s inaugural PRO Rugby tournament, which kicked off on Saturday, April 23. There are at least 20 players of Tongan heritage playing in the tournament, most of whom are US-born.
