The ‘Ikale Tahi squad to play against Australia A on Saturday in Lautoka, Fiji, was announced today by the Tonga Rugby Union. This is the final round of the Pacific Nations Cup 2022.

The ‘Ikale Tahi was defeated by Samoa 34-18 during their second game at the 2022 Pacific Nations Cup at Churchill Stadium, Lautoka on 9 July.

Tonga’s qualification battle for a place at Rugby World Cup 2023 in France will continue at Sunshine Coast Stadium in Queensland, next month with the Asia/Pacific Play off. It will be the first time Tonga have played in Australia in almost 20 years (since 2003).

Tongan Primary School sports programs are further supported by a donation of rugby gear from a sports charity, SOS Kit, presented today through the British High Commission in Tonga. It follows development clinics and training held in the outer islands last year, under a program of ongoing training of physical education teachers.

The ‘Ikale Tahi ended its tour of the northern hemisphere with a loss against Romania, 32 – 20, in Bucharest on November 20.

The ‘Ikale Tahi team to play the French Barbarians at Twickenham, at 4:00pm UK Time on Saturday 13 November, was confirmed by the Tonga Rugby Union, CEO Peter Harding, who is with the team.

The ‘Ikale Tahi has added nine experienced players to their squad this week in preparation for the game against England on Saturday November 6, at Twickenham Stadium.

Staff for the 'Ikale Tahi Northern Tour in November will have to stay in a bubble, said the Chief Executive Officer for the Tonga Rugby Union, Peter Harding, in releasing the staff list on October 20.
