Johnny Gratten Vaea Taione won the Tongatapu 8 By-Election with 743 votes and secured his seat in the Legislative Assembly of Tonga. He replaces the late Semisi Fakahau.

The By-Election to elect the new People's Representative to the Tonga Legislative Assembly for the Tongatapu 8 constituency will be held on Thursday, 19 January, 2023. This is to fill the seat vacated by the late Hon. Semisi Fakahau.
