The Legislative Assembly will resume its sittings on 31 March, after two months break. The last meeting was on 31 January, where Cabinet members took their oaths of office in Parliament, and members for the Parliamentary Standing Committees were selected.
Parliament Office stated yesterday, that several parliamentary standing committees are working while the House is not sitting.
PM Hon. Dr 'Aisake Eke during a media briefing last week, said the 2024-2025 Parliamentary session will close on 15 May, and the 2025-2026 Parliamentary session will open on 23 May.
On Monday, 17 March, Hon. Hu'akavameiliku, who is the Chairman of the Public Accounts Standing Committee, led a series of public consultation meetings with government ministries regarding the submission of the Auditor's Report (April 2021–March 2023) to Parliament. The public consultations began with the His Majesty's Armed Forces, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Education and Training.
Yesterday, three additional sessions were held with the Ministry of Justice, the Police, and the Ministry of Tourism.
Further discussions were scheduled for today, with the Auditor General also participating in these consultations.
