Ten line staff from the Tonga Power Ltd have won employment contracts with New Zealand’s Northpower Ltd. after completing a two-weeks recruitment boot camp. The group, including one woman, who are expected to migrate with their families in November this year have been called “professionals” and “great ambassadors for Tonga”.

Ten Tonga Power Ltd. lines staff left for New Zealand today to undergo a two-weeks evaluation boot camp in East Tamaki with a view to winning employment contracts with Northpower Ltd.

The Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Labour has approved new petroleum prices for the next month from mid-August to mid-September. Retail prices for petroleum were significantly higher when compared to petroleum prices approved for mid-July to mid-August.

Tonga's petroleum prices for mid-July to mid-August will increase significantly compared to June, continuing a trend of rising petroleum prices since April.
