A new cyclone-resilient three-classroom building for Tonga Police College was opened today, 28 May, as part of a multi-million pa'anga recovery program for schools damaged by Tropical Cyclone Gita in 2018.

The completion of an Aquatic Sports Project to develop the ocean swimming pool at Touliki, was celebrated on Friday evening, 16 April. A new cafe will open at the location tonight, 19 April.

An upgraded water supply system for people in the western Hihifo District was handed over to Prince Ata on February 23. The project was financed by the Government of Japan.

Local food crop farming is on the rise in Tonga thanks to the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) supported projects which helps to increase food security amid CoViD-19, climate change, and natural disasters.

Seven community projects supporting women, youth, health, and the environment throughout Tonga, received funding from Tonga Offshore Mining Ltd (TOML) and Deep Green today, 15 January.

Four new community projects will be funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) after grant contracts were signed today. They include a new classroom for Kolomotu’a Government Primary School, a water supply system for Vaini, a vehicle for the OTA Center, and waste collection vehicles for Ha'apai.

A massive national roads project that aims to tarseal 2,149 kilometers of roads throughout Tonga, is underway with a $15 million pa'anga allocation in the government's 2020-2021 national budget. It's a fraction of the $300 million that is needed to complete the task.
