In spite of the recent diplomatic turmoil between the Solomon Islands and Australia, which may result in an early termination of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI), Tonga stands in full support of continuing the mission. By Linny Folau

I read the current dialog degenerating into name calling and close-minded swaggering and it reminds me of previous disappointments when anticipating many a good game from our Ikale Tahi team playing overseas and later leaving totally embarrassed due to their short-fused attitude spoiling the game for all. Then we often lament that if only our players had kept their eyes on the ball rather than clothes-lining the necks of other players, we would...’ve won. I note, we Tongans are very good at personally short-circuiting any conversation that might offer any promise through personal attacks. - E. L. Saafi

The salutation to Mother Nature with her unbounded love and divine taste of fair and care in the 'natural logos' of our universe - i.e. the logic of beauty, unity and order between human beings and the physical surroundings - may be considered as the highest climax in positivity that culminates the prolific dialogue by Payne, Mokofisi, Moimoiangaha, Mafi Amerika Samoa and Ma‘u Leka ‘i Lolofonua. - Siosiua Tofua‘ipangai

Before I jump in this discussion, I would like to apologize to Mele Payne Lynch. I've never met her, I don't know her personally, and I really don't know her exact contributions to Tonga's economy, and my lack of judgement in using her as the example of a model tourist, when she is clearly more than that, has become fodder for others to mock her. - Richard Wolfgramm

It really astounds me that ignorance is bliss, and in this case with Mele Payne Lynch's letter I would like to pin point some misconceptions about her experience when she went to Tonga during the King's funeral with my own when I was there. - William Mariner

Mrs. Mele Lynch cannot engage in a logical discourse if she is also engaged in personal attacks. Calling my rebuttal to her letter emotional impulse and prejudice is gratuitous logic, to embarrass or discredit one's opponent, but it contributes no logical value to the debate. - Sione Mokofisi

It irks me to read Mele Payne Lynch's belittling our Kingdom and the peculiarities of our island from our fashion sense to our appreciation of our royal funeral, etc. For one, I have seen her picture on Planet Tonga and her fashion sense is a joke, somebody must have lied to her! - Fonua Fa‘otusia

If the rumour about the oil in Vava‘u is true, then Tonga has the potential to become a rich Kingdom. As they say in this part of the world, 'where the oil is, wealth follows. With wealth comes prosperity and with prosperity follows a high standard of living. Once a Nation reaches this level, good health and education automatically follow. And citizens have the right to say we are a civilised Nation. Amen. - Senolita Swan

The emotional impulse and prejudice demonstrated by Sione Mokofisi and the individual from New York over my recent editorial comments in the Matangi Tonga is a matter of sentiment and twisted logic that influenced them to side step my point. Siosaia Moimoiangaha articulated my point very well. Richard Wolfgram added more premises with stunning examples illustrating the importance of why we should be concerned about the environment and make a conscious effort to restore the beauty of Tonga. - Mele Payne Lynch
