Tonga's Sevens team for the Olympic Qualification in Monaco on June 19-20, will be selected from players in Europe, the Tonga Rugby Union CEO, Peter Harding announced tonight. This decision was taken because of the public health challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout the world keeping political interference out of sport is explicitly written into good Constitutions of sports bodies and their regulators. Tonga Rugby is no exception, but for the past two and a half years I have observed the intertwining of the TRU Leadership, in its quest for financial gain and personal advantage, and a political party in its quest to capture votes.
