The Tonga Government has today handed back bookings to airlines and travel agents "Starting tomorrow, services will be provided commercially by airlines and travel agents," said MEIDECC CEO, Paula Ma’u. Tonga is moving toward an incremental border re-opening, with zero MIQ for incoming passengers starting in August.

‘Alefosio Vaingaina (44) was sentenced to six-years imprisonment for serious housebreaking and theft of Tongan koloa, valued at around $22,800 from the Royal Palace in Vava'u. The judge said it would appear that this is the first published case of housebreaking and theft perpetrated against the Royal family.

Telstra announced yesterday it had completed the acquisition of Digicel Pacific in partnership with the Australian Government. The acquisition which was initially announced in October 2021 was finalised, after necessary government and regulatory approvals. Digicel Pacific communications services across Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Nauru, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu will be overseen by a Telstra controlled board, chaired by Telstra Enterprise Group Executive, David Burns.
