The implementation of a newly structured Tonga Police was officially declared by the Minister of Police, Hon. Dr Viliami Latu on Monday, February 21, when he announced the appointment by the government of Police Commander Chris Kelley as Tonga's first Police Commissioner.

Tonga's Princess Regent HRH Princess Pilolevu Tuita arrived in pouring rain to open the first session Tonga's Legislative Assembly under the new system of government, shortly after 10:00am today at Parliament House, Nuku'alofa.
