HM King Tupou VI in Privy Council has upheld a Land Court’s judgment made last year declaring Tupou Tongaliuaki Filo’aulo Aleamotu’a (25) as the lawful successor of the hereditary title Fielakepa, after dismissing an appeal made by his uncle Rt Hon Lord Fielakepa to the Privy Council of Tonga on January 15 this year.

The Land Court of Tonga this morning declared Tupou Tongaliuaki Filo'aulo Aleamotu'a (24) as the lawful holder of the hereditary title Fielakepa, and that his uncle's appointment as a trustee of the Fielakepa estate was null and void, and also that the publication in the Gazette of the defendant's name as holder of the title Fielakepa was made in error.

A young man, whose family believes is the rightful heir to the Fielakepa title and estate, began his legal challenge in the Nuku’alofa Supreme Court today, against his uncle – the head of Tonga’s armed forces - who was given the Fielakepa title by King Tupou VI in April this year.

Tonga's Public Service Association Inc. and the Prime Minister Hon ‘Akilisi Pohiva will have to pay $20,000 pa'anga each by way of security to the Supreme Court before their civil action regarding the alleged unlawful payment of Chinese aid money to Friendly Islands Satellite Communication Ltd. (FISC) can proceed to trial.
