Sydney Rooster’s winger, Daniel Tupou, is eager to represent Tonga at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup (RLWC17) this October. “If I got the chance I would definitely put my hand up to play for Tonga,” Tupou stated.

Former Mate Ma’a Tonga centre Solomone Kata will debut for New Zealand this Saturday October 15 against Australia in Perth. The Vava’u born 23-year-old was the top try scorer for his NRL team the New Zealand Warriors this year, scoring 15 tries in 21 games in the 2016 NRL season. He was announced as part of the Kiwis squad last week.

The draw for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup was announced yesterday, July 19, by its organising committee. Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea have been confirmed as the hosts of the World Cup, from October 27 to December 2 next year. Tonga will play in pool B of the World Cup matched up against New Zealand, Samoa and Scotland.
