Bank of South Pacific Tonga Limited (BSP) today, Friday 10 March, 2023, announced a Net Profit after Tax of T$13.4 million pa'anga for the financial year ending 31 December, 2022. BSP Tonga Country Head Marcellina Rose Wolfgramm-Haapai said, “The Net Profit after Tax for FY2022 was 13.4% above the 2021 performance and achieved from improved Operating Income.

Tonga Red Cross received a donation of $10,000 pa’anga from the Bank South Pacific to assist in its recovery programs, after the natural disasters of 15 January. BSP Tonga-Country Head Marcellina Wolfgramm Ha'apai presented the cheque to Tonga Red Cross Secretary-General, Sione Taumoefolau on 11 July to mark the bank's 7th anniversary in Tonga.

Bank South Pacific (BSP) Tonga has donated $30,000 to Tonga Red Cross relief program to support the victims affected by Cyclone Gita. Sione Taumoefolau, Secretary Generale for Tonga Red Cross Society said “this will go a long way in assisting their work in hiring trucks to deliver aid to affected areas, feeding the volunteers and other needed support.”

By not shaving their moustaches for a month, a group of local gentlemen dedicated themselves to raising donations for the Child Cancer Foundation Tonga (CCFT). Ten men started to grow beards on November 1 but only four lasted without shaving until the end of the month.

Up to half a million pa’anga of “unclaimed” money held in bank accounts at the Bank of the South Pacific in Nuku’alofa will be swallowed up by the government in June if the amounts are not claimed by the owners soon. Several accounts belonging to the King of Tonga, as well as an Emergency Relief Trust Fund, a private retirement fund, and funds belonging to societies and groups such as the Tonga Society of Accountants, the Sisters of Mercy, the Ferry Princess Ashika Vava’u Victims Fund, the Friendly Island Teachers Association, and numerous PTA accounts, along with those of individuals and a few companies, will be included in a mass transfer of funds if unclaimed.
