Lulutai Airlines, Tonga's only national carrier, is dedicated to providing exceptional service and maintaining the highest standards of airworthiness across our fleet. We are currently seeking highly skilled and experienced candidates for these positions:
1. Commercial Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the commercial requirements for the operation of Lulutai Airlines Ltd
- Implementing lawful directions of the Board, CEO, and CFO on commercial matters
- Negotiating favourable commercial terms for clients, customers and business partners
- Taking responsibility for increasing the revenue and earnings of the core business, and identifying and developing additional business revenue streams
- Tracking and monitoring commercial performance across the business with the help of Revenue Management
- Working on marketing proposals, business Development & product Teams to support all tiers of customers and commercial partners
- Negotiating favourable tactical and exclusive deals with our business partners, clients, and customers for the approval of management
- Identifying new business opportunities with existing and new Business Partners / Bid on new projects and negotiate contract terms
- Monitoring and developing good relationships with company Business Partners to understand the market and share performance
- Demonstrate leadership and provide active training, coaching and support to the commercial Team (Sales and Revenue TEAM)
- If required, attend Trade Shows in the Tonga and Oversees – Networking expanding business potential example SPTO, IATA, ASPA
- Identifying opportunities for operational process improvement by use of new/changing processes and/or technology for Sales and Reservations
- Closely Monitor the Sales Performances and Revenue Collection
- Establish GDS systems for the company – this is so that our fares a projected in other GDS systems example H1 and Expedia
- Work on Interline and Codeshare agreement for the Airline example: FJ/NZ/NF/QF/O
- Works with Revenue Management on setting the schedule, pricing and revenue projections
- Handles all customer service complains and compliments via email, phone etc
- Service Recovery for Unhappy Customers and Oversees Disruption Handling
- Activate the Care TEAM to handle disruptions
- Product Development – Inflight Magazines, Collaterals, Promotion Campaigns
- Training Update of all Commercial Staff, track progression plans and ensure that the TEAM’s training modules is up to par.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as aviation or a related discipline
- 3-5 years’ experience in roles such as airlines operations or management
- Skills in scheduling, marketing, budgeting and team management
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks, prioritize work, handle workloads and meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in office software

2. Flight Operation Manager
The Flight Operation Manager is authorized to exercise control of the Flight Operation including management of Flight Operations safety and security outcomes.
Position Overview:
The Flight Operation Manager at Lulutai Airlines plays a critical role in overseeing and directing all flight operational activities conducted under Civil Aviation Rules. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring that flight operations meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Being the Senior Person responsible for all Air Operations.
- Being the Senior Person responsible for the management and development of the Flight Operations Department (Domestic & International) and its activities.
- Having overall responsibility for providing trained and qualified Flight Crew to operate company aircraft reliably and safely, in accordance with the regular requirements and company flight schedule.
- Controlling and responsibility for Operations Control Center (OCC).
Key Tasks:
- Assisting with the preparation of the Flight Operation Strategic Plans, Performance Forecasts and Annual Budgets.
- Achieving financial budgets through cost management of all aspects of the Flight Operations Specifications.
- Ensuring conformance with established company standards.
- Providing policy advice to the CEO on Flight Operations matters.
- Managing the department’s budget.
- Restricting or suspending operations when hazardous conditions exist.
- Overseeing and providing guidance regarding the company’s fuel policy.
- Owning, promoting and managing Quality, Safety and Security in all flight operations department functions.
- Review the content of and authorizing amendments to the flight operations department’s manual suite;
- Reporting all accidents and incidents to the Quality & Safety Systems Manager,
- Implementing corrective and preventative actions identified as a result of the company’s SMS;
- Providing support and resources as required from the OCC Department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Document required: Airline Transport Pilot License.
- 3 years’ experience in an operational control position.
- 3 years as a pilot-in-command under Part 121 and Part 125 operations.
- Extensive experience in flight operation management within the aviation industry.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

3. Maintenance Controller
The Maintenance Controller will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing safety and reliability of our aircraft operations, while the Engineering Manager will lead our engineering team and oversee the smooth execution of all maintenance and engineering activities under our Part 145 Certificate.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance Management:
- Oversee maintenance scheduling and execution to ensure aircraft airworthiness.
- Develop and gain approval for airworthiness policies and maintenance programs.
- Manage contracts with Part 145 approved contractors and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain current Technical Logs and technical records.
- Supervise work scheduling, production of work packages, and planning tolerance variations.
- Address and resolve issues with contracted maintenance organizations.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to Airworthiness Directives, modifications, and repairs.
- Report maintenance issues to CAD and relevant authorities.
- Review and update maintenance manuals and implement CAD requirements.
- Maintain accurate Weight and Balance statements and current aircraft configuration.
3. Training and Development:
- Develop and manage training policies and review training needs every two years.
4. Stakeholder Management:
- Manage relationships with OEMs, vendors, and regulatory authorities on airworthiness and compliance issues.
5. Procedural Oversight:
- Establish and manage procedures to ensure ongoing airworthiness of aircraft and equipment.
- Ensure maintenance is performed by certified organizations
Qualifications and Experience:
1. For Part 121 Operations:
- Clear knowledge and understanding of maintenance provisions under Part 121.
- Must hold or have held an aircraft maintenance engineer license or equivalent with appropriate ratings.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance of similar size and type as operated by Lulutai Airlines.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position during the 5 years’ experience.
2. For Part 125 Operations:
- Clear knowledge and understanding of maintenance provisions under Part 125.
- Must hold or have held an aircraft maintenance engineer license under Part 66 or an equivalent license with appropriate ratings.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance of similar size and type as operated by Lulutai Airlines.
- At least 1 year’s experience certifying aircraft for release-to-service or equivalent experience acceptable to the Director.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven experience in controlling and directing maintenance and ensuring continuing airworthiness.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

4. Engineering Manager
Position Overview:
The Engineering Manager at Lulutai Airlines plays a critical role in overseeing and directing all maintenance activities conducted under the Lulutai Airlines Ltd Part 145 Certificate. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring that maintenance operations meet the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, quality, and operational efficiency. The Engineering Manager will lead a team of direct reports, ensuring that all necessary resources and facilities are in place to support effective maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Lead and manage direct report departments to achieve safety, regulatory, quality, and operational targets;
- Ensure sufficient, competent, and appropriately authorized staff are available for all aircraft maintenance activities.
- Oversee the provision of suitable facilities, equipment, tools, and materials necessary for maintenance activities.
- Manage technical data, records, and planning for maintenance activities.
2. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work complies with the company’s Safety Management System, National Aviation Authority Rules, and industry regulations.
- Liaise with and report to CAD on all safety matters under your control.
- Ensure the safety and security of all personnel, assets, systems, and procedures within your area of responsibility.
3. Operational Oversight:
- Ensure customer contracts and service agreement obligations are met.
- Provide Nominated Level 3 NDT support for Engineering and Maintenance NDT activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to company duty time limitations and Part 145.52 regulations.
- Monitor daily maintenance activities to ensure adequate resources, including manpower, equipment, tools, and spare parts, are available.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holder of an AMEL with appropriate rating issued in accordance with CAR Part 66.
- All candidates must have a suitable Practical Training Record (PTR) or Schedule of Experience (SOE) that covers the aircraft type and applicable scope of authorization for the EM role.
- Extensive experience in engineering management within the aviation industry.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Strong knowledge of Part 145 regulations and safety management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

5. Airlines Security Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Being the Air Operator Security Senior Person;
- Providing assurance and accountability to the Quality & Safety Systems Manager in the management of operational risk, through the effective use of data systems and analysis;
- Administration, implementation, maintenance and day-to-day administration of the security program to ensure compliance with:
- The requirements of the civil aviation security program of Tonga;
- Applicable requirements of other states where operations are conducted
- The security standards of Lulutai Airlines.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Tertiary level education in aviation or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of Part 119 regulations and safety management systems.
- Extensive experience in risk management and customer service
- Extensive experience in management within the aviation industry.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
- Demonstrated experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
