Wow.....talk about a storm in a teacup. Unbelievable, is it really that important? Come on now, let's be realistic on what this CYP can enact.
Information is power....
Information is power - working with young people needs correct and accurate information otherwise we will mislead them. They are our future Leaders and we need to seriously consider that the information we are feeding them with will help them to make informed decision once they are in the leadership position.
The importance of attending the Commonwealth Youth Parliament is that Tonga's rep will learn more about the youth issues in the context of both the Pacific region as well as on a global level. You will also get to learn.
I would like to thank the Speaker of the Tonga Legislative Assembly, Chief Clerk and the staff for working so hard to bring back this opportunity to Tonga. It has been a while and this is a blessing for us all.
Youth Parliament is an educational program which aims to:
- educate the youth of Tonga and the Commonwealth countries on the Parliamentary system
- provide an opportunity to the youth to practice parliamentary role in a safe and enabling environment
- set the platform that will ensure direct communication between youth and decision making people
