Tatafu Moeaki, Tonga's former Minister of Finance was appointed by government on 20 December 2022 as the new Governor of the National Reserve Bank of Tonga.

Dear Sir, Was not this man, Mr Tatafu Moeaki, convicted of bribe recently by our Justice system? Shouldn't he be disqualified from high positions such as this in government? - Rev Dr Ma'afu Palu
EDITOR'S NOTE: To answer your first query: No, not convicted. It was not a criminal trial. After considering an Electoral Petition, the Supreme Court ruled that the MP had committed the offence of bribery under section 21 of the Electoral Act and declared that his election was void.
