Curfew again? It is not that
Curfew again? It is not that I doubt the seriousness of the coronavirus spread. We have seen that in Fiji: for more than a year everything was fine there. Then, last April, a soldier involved in the border quarantine service returned to his room, early, which he should not have done because the cleaning lady was still busy there. As they were not supposed to have met each other, she could leave the place unchecked. Of all 69 quarantined people the soldiers were taking care of, there was just one who had the virus. And that one soldier just managed to catch it. And then that one cleaning lady just managed to catch it. The rest is history. Now Fiji is battling a exponential spread. But the point is: it was not at midnight she was infected.
Then why are our freedoms curtailed with a continuous curfew of which the effectiveness and need is dubious? Do we really need it, or is the Covid scare just a excuse for the government to flex its muscles and show its authoritarian character? Like many so-called and democratic governments all over the world do, by the way.
