Six Tongan athletes will take part at the Tokyo Olympics, starting with the opening ceremony, at 8:00pm Japan time, which will be shown on local TV in Tonga on 23 July (midnight Tongan time).
With entry to Japan banned from 159 countries (except for athletes, support staff and media), people around the world will be following their teams progress on television, with 33 sports being represented in 339 events.
In Tonga, Digicel CEO Anthony Seuseu said that Digicel TV and their PlayGo app would be broadcasting the latest sports news and coverage from the Olympic Games.
“The PlayGo app lets users cast from their mobile device to their TV or any other big screen.... For the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the app will have three dedicated live channels,” he said.
“Across our Digicel countries we have a number of athletes participating, and we want to wish them all the best in the games," said Anthony.
