Tonga A's 30 man squad for the Pacific Rugby Cup Tournament 2012 will play Australia's Waratahs on February 17, in the first leg of the tournament in Sydney. Head Coach 'Isitolo Maka selected the Tonga A squad before they departed Tonga on February 14. The team includes the best of the local rugby players led by Finau Tupa, a talented back rower from Fasi Ma'ufanga Rugby Club.

Seventeen secondary school rugby players will take up rugby scholarships in New Zealand this year. The manager of Tonga's Institute of Sports, Tu'ivaita Ueleni, said that the players included nine from the Under-18 team that toured New Zealand late last year. The nine players who left Tonga on January 21 to attend the Onehunga Technical Institute are Paula Fifita, Sami Taufa, Fe'aomoeuasi Hui, Taniela 'Ofa, Fetuli Paea, Sailosi Vaeatangitau, 'Ilaia Moala, Sione Kafatolu and Niukapu Taufa.

With the arrival of the International Olympic Committee President to Tonga this week, I'd like to draw attention to an issue much closer to home, our national stadium Teufaiva. In my view, Teufaiva Stadium is not at the standard it should be and as a country which prides itself with great sporting ability, I believe this should be upgraded into an asset which all Tongans can be proud of. - Chris Chapman.
