Tonga Police yesterday suspended a search for a New Zealand visitor Gregory Paul Reynolds (47), missing in Tongatapu since 8 April. The Police Commissioner said today they are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances involved in his disappearance, and have met with his family who flew to Tonga.

Former Mate Ma’a Tonga winger Mateaki Mafi (43) was a prize winner at the 2016 Crufts dog show in Birmingham, England, according to local news media. One of his dogs a Neapolitan Mastiff won the best of breed award in the “working dogs” category. His dog is named “Freddo Dei Mastini Della Rupe”.

A major $66 million upgrade of the domestic wharf in Nuku'alofa to be completed by 2018, was launched today with a groundbreaking by HM King Tupou VI, who was accompanied by Queen Nanasipau'u. The project funded as a part of Japan's grant aid will include the extension of the domestic wharf and the building of a terminal for passengers and cargo.

Utah gang member, Nitokalisi Fonua has asked for forgiveness from the families of his two victims during his sentencing by a Salt Lake City court last Saturday April 16. Nitokalisi was sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment for the murder of Viliami Latu (34) in 2007 and Krystal Flores (22) in 2009.

Now imprisoned Tongan businessman, Mosese Uele, was yesterday identified in a New Zealand Court as being the alleged “inside man” for a major illegal drug trafficking operation between China and New Zealand. He was named in the trial of Chinese born Yixin Gan (35) who once lived in Tonga and is accused of smuggling 250kg of drugs into New Zealand.
