Another one-day meeting called by the Prime Minister this time to explain to parliamentarians and others the major changes in Tonga's education system and in particular the reasons why Standardization Marks will be replaced by Raw Marks in Tongan schools was held this afternoon, Thursday 25 August at Kalofiama ‘o Epworth Hall. "We feel there are still doubts and concerns, and that is why this meeting was called," the PM said.

Also discussed were a report that highlighted Tonga's ongoing failure to appoint an anti-corruption commissioner; and another report that stated 183 child marriages took place in Tonga between 2013-15. The 330 arrests mainly for drunk and disorderly conduct in central Nuku’alofa over the last three weeks is a community problem, which “should concern all of you,” says Tonga’s Commissioner of Police. He stated today that 50 people were arrested over the weekend and warned that the Police would continue to take a tough enforcement stance on drunkenness, criminal behaviour and drinking and driving.

A group of children from 12 primary schools in Tongatapu have been wearing special cameras around their necks, taking photos every 10 seconds for three days, as part of research project examining their lives. The research program, Kids’ Cam Tonga, is being conducted by the University of Otago of New Zealand on selected Class Six students, to learn more about the children’s environment and how they interact with it. The findings are expected to help improve children's wellbeing.

As a reserve Tupou Neiufi was a late call up to take the place of Kiwi swimmer Bryall McPherson, who withdrew last week due to injury.
