Two Tongan women in California, have been jailed for neglecting their 73-year-old mother, who was found in a gangrenous state after passing away in 2013. The pair were sentenced on Friday, only two days before Mother’s day today. They were sentenced by the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

The Chinese will take over the running of Tonga in a few years time, Tonga’s Prime Minister, Hon. ‘Akilisi Pohiva told an incredulous Press Conference he called yesterday, 11 May at Popua. It is unusual to see so many cyclones in the South Pacific at this time of the year, says Tonga's Director of Meteorology, 'Ofa Fa'anunu today, as northern Tonga remains on a Warning for Tropical Cyclone Ella [upgraded to Category 2 this evening 10 May 2017]. Tonga has not experienced an out of season cyclone since Severe Tropical Cyclone Keli in June 1997.
