Tonga's Police are remaining tight-lipped today, over how an accused murder suspect Dean Jay Fletcher managed to escape their custody yesterday and flee on his yacht 'Sea Oak'. He has not been recaptured and was last seen heading out of Tongan waters. It is alleged he beat his wife to death while visiting Vava'u.

A Chinese company Zhuhai Singyes that is investing more than $10 million pa’anga to build a 2 Mega Watts solar farm in Tonga will sell its energy to Tonga Power Ltd. at a negotiated price, the Chinese Ambassador to Tonga, HE Mr Huang Huaguang said at a reception at the Kahana Resort on Wednesday 28 September. It is one of two large undertakings by Chinese companies investing in Tonga.

After a five hour stand-off a Tonga Police Search and Rescue boat was forced to pull out of a pursuit of the yacht 'Sea Oak' at 4:30pm today, after fugitive murder suspect Dean Jay Fletcher had fired several flares at the small police boat and threatened to set fire to it in northwest Vava'u waters, following his escape from custody in Neiafu earlier. International police services, maritime networks and commercial flights have been alerted for sightings of the desperate man.

'Ilaisaane Fifita and Sisikula Sisifa, both 31, became the first Pacific academics at the University of Auckland’s Business School, graduating with doctoral degrees today, Tuesday 27 September. 'Ilaisaane's work examining non-smokers, shows that marketing skills can be used to improve the consumer wellbeing and the welfare of society. Sisikula in her work found that cultural differences in thinking about management practices undermine the success of development projects.
