Paea Fainga’a was acquitted on two counts of serious housebreaking and theft of a car in 2019 by Hon. Mr Justice Cooper in a ruling this month, after he found the evidence of the complainant, Siaosi Vete, unconvincing.

A training program encouraging qualified and experienced electricians to do business legally and get licensed, as well as understand the laws and regulations governing electrical contractor work, is underway this week in Nuku’alofa. Currently, only 28 electrical contractors are properly registered to service Tonga Power Ltd’s 25,000 customers on Tongatapu, with only one for the whole of Vava'u and none in Ha'apai.
