Former Mate Ma’a Tonga centre Solomone Kata will debut for New Zealand this Saturday October 15 against Australia in Perth. The Vava’u born 23-year-old was the top try scorer for his NRL team the New Zealand Warriors this year, scoring 15 tries in 21 games in the 2016 NRL season. He was announced as part of the Kiwis squad last week.

A 17-year old Australian boy of Tongan heritage, Tyrone Taukamo, is the most wanted rugby player in Australia according to local media reports. Tyrone has been approached by 15 of 16 NRL clubs, and has also received two offers from French Rugby clubs Bordeaux and Toulon. He is a graduate of Newington College, an acclaimed rugby school in Sydney.

Samoa coach Matt Parish criticized international rugby league organisers in the National Rugby League (NRL) after it was revealed Samoan players received no match payments for their game against Tonga at Pirtek Stadium, Parramatta last Saturday night.
