Minerals exploration on Tonga's seabed is slowly getting into a momentum as a second research ship, the R/V Onnuri left Nuku'alofa, on Wednesday, December 10 to look for copper, gold, zinc and silver on the sea-bed to the south of Tongatapu.

Of all the Pacific Islands Forum members, China only gives aid to the eight countries that recognise it. Of those countries Tonga is one of the largest recipients of Chinese aid pledges in both overall and per capita terms.
