Tonga’s 13th and final military contingent deployed to the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI) returned to Tonga on Monday, July 29. RAMSI marked its 10th year anniversary last week in Honiara ending the military component of the mission from Participating Forces.

Tonga had decided to remain in Afghanistan for two more years until December 2014 under a NATO-led mission, but a review would be held after the first year in December 2013, the Acting Commander of the Tonga Defence Services Captain Toni Fonokalafi said today.
