Results for 2025 General Election

Voter registrations have closed for the 20 November general election, the Tonga Electoral Commission (TEC) announced today, 6 November.

Fourteen nobles are standing for election to the nine noble's seats in the Legislative Assembly of Tonga. They vote among themselves. HSH Prince Kalaniuvalu Fotofili, the incumbent noble for the Niuas, was the sole candidate for the Niuas, and has therefore been declared elected by the Electoral Commission Office.

The opening day of candidate registration for the general election saw a mix of new candidates and incumbent members in Tongatapu, running for the ten Tongatapu seats of the People's representatives in Tonga's Legislative Assembly.

The registration of voters for the November General Election will close on Thursday, 18 September. Today, a significant number of young people were registering, the Supervisor of Elections, Pita Vuki told Matangi Tonga. Individuals aged 21 to 35 years make up approximately 25% of the total eligible voters in 2025.

The date for Tonga's November General Election has not yet been set, said the Supervisor of Elections Pita Vuki today, as the Electoral Office awaits the Writ of Election to be issued by King Tupou VI.
