TONGA GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 INTAKE
The 2025 Tonga Government Scholarships Programme (TGS) is sponsored by the Government of Tonga. Under the TGS Programme, scholarships are available for study either in the region, or New Zealand, depending on where a particular course is offered.
All TGS scholarship holders, upon completion of their study programmes, must return and work in Tonga either at the Ministry, an agency or an institution to which the scholarship is attached for the period specified in the Government of Tonga Scholarship Bond. Undergraduate and postgraduate study are included. This year’s priority fields of study include:

There is a limited number of scholarships available. Selection will be based on merit in consideration of your academic achievement, relevancy of the study program to the human resource development priorities of the Government of Tonga, financial need and work experiences, in compliance with the set eligibility criteria being established by the National Scholarship Committee. Please ensure that you are eligible to apply before submitting your application. Current Form 6 students are not eligible. Current Form 7 and recent school leavers with strong leadership abilities are encouraged to apply.
Applicants are strongly advised to seek admission to your proposed university at the time of, or as soon as possible after submitting your TGS application. Before accepting the offer of a scholarship, the applicant must provide evidence of acceptance into an appropriate course of study. Please note: the Scholarship Committee will make the final decision on the host University.
Application forms are available from the Scholarship Unit, Ministry of Education and Training Head Office, Ápimataka, Tofoa; Vava’u High School; Ha’apai High School; ‘Eua High School; Niuatoputapu High School; and Niuafo’ou High School.
The application form must be completed in full; copies of all requested documents must be certified. Your application package must be clearly marked “Scholarship Application”, and to be delivered (in person or by post) by 4.00 PM Friday, 20 December 2024 either to the:

Applications may be deemed ineligible if all relevant forms are not completed (refer to Forms 1-5). Please be advised that only successful applicants will be notified.
Late applications will NOT be considered.
