1. DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER CORPORATE SERVICES

Tonga Airports Limited, a public enterprise of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, mandated to operate and manage the airports in Tonga, is currently seeking a dynamic, skilled, and dedicated individual to join our team as Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Corporate Services. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of aviation in our nation while leading critical functions within our organisation.

Position Overview: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Deputy CEO – Corporate Services will play a central role in providing strategic support and leadership across various departments within the organisation. The incumbent will oversee Corporate Services, which encompasses administration, human resources, legal, policy and finance units. Additionally, the role entails managing Commercial Services, including commercial operations, marketing, business development, as well as overseeing contract arrangements and airport concessionaire property management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to the Chief Executive Officer in executing strategic initiatives and organisational goals.
  • Lead and manage Corporate Services, ensuring efficient and effective operations across administration, human resources, legal, policy and finance units.
  • Oversee Commercial Services, driving revenue generation through strategic marketing initiatives, business development, and effective management of commercial operations.
  • Provide expertise in contract negotiations and management, ensuring compliance and favourable outcomes for the organisation.
  • Manage property portfolios and lease agreements, optimising asset utilisation and maximising returns.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the organisation.
  • Prepare and present high-level reports to stakeholders, demonstrating strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of key performance indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Minimum Criteria: To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Qualification and work experience:
    • PHD with at least one-year relevant working experience; OR
    • Master’s Degree with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role OR at least 5 years relevant working experience; OR
    • Post Graduate Diploma with at least 4 years’ experience in a similar role or at least 6 years relevant working experience; OR
    • Bachelor’s degree with at least 7 years’ experience in a similar role or at least 10 years relevant working experience
  • Desirable: Experience within the aviation industry, with a solid understanding of industry dynamics and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Tongan, with demonstrable proficiency in high-level reporting and stakeholder engagement.

2. DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OPERATIONS

Tonga Airports Limited, a public enterprise of the Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, mandated to operate and manage the airports in Tonga, is currently seeking to recruit a Deputy Chief Executive Officer Operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of aviation in our nation while leading critical functions within our organisation.

Position Overview: The role of the Deputy CEO Operations (DCEOO) is to manage technical operational divisions within the company and ensure safe, secure and smooth operational running of the airports in its day-to-day activities. DCEOO shall be responsible for the oversight of air traffic services, aviation security, aerodrome operations, aeronautical telecommunication and supply of aviation fuel – TAL’s certified functions. DCEOO shall provide appropriate input into the development of TAL’s strategic operational plans and relevant periodic reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Head of Operations and implementation of TAL’s civil aviation certificates
  • Leadership and line management of departmental leads to high standard of performance and compliance with policies and procedures including development of work and training plans and annual appraisals.
  • Member of the Executive Management and Leadership team providing support to the CEO by providing sound advice on matters pertaining to technical operations and functions of the company
  • Provides recommendations to management team on quality improvement, industry updates and changes.
  • Responsible for the performance and compliance of Technical Services, Aeronautical Information Service, Air Traffic Services, Aviation Security, Aerodromes and Aviation Fuel
  • Responsible for the regulatory operational compliance and reviews reports and maintains policies, risk assessments and procedures.
  • Implement and review procedures and processes which support the company’s strategic/business plan, as well as operational efficiencies to the business
  • Accountable for the employees who work directly for areas of responsibility with the development of position descriptions, performance & development plans and annual reviews with their teams.
