1. TongaHealth Program Officer (Vava’u Office)

The Tonga Health Promotion Foundation (TongaHealth) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate to join the TongaHealth team as a Program Officer at Vava’u Office.

The main purpose for this position is to strengthen TongaHealth’s accountability mechanisms as required under the Health Promotion Foundation Act and to ensure maintenance of positive relationships with outer island communities and implementing partners through effective project management systems and clear day- to-day communications on all TongaHealth’s business and program related matters.

Support TongaHealth to:

  • Deliver evidence based NCD prevention interventions to outer island groups and remote communities.
  • Manage projects funded through TongaHealth grants and ensure timely monitoring and reporting of project activities.
  • Maintain good working relationships and networks with stakeholders.
  • Advocate for TongaHealth vision and mission.
  • Any other duties as required by line manager or CEO.

Minimum requirements for the role

Qualifications:

  • A minimum qualification of a Diploma or bachelor’s degree in public health or health Promotion or related discipline or an equivalent work experience in community development

Essential Skills

  • A sound understanding of national and international policy frameworks including Tonga National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of NCD Strategy 2021-2025 and the Pacific NCD Roadmap.
  • Proven project, grant and contract management skills
  • Knowledge of social marketing and strategic health communications
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain program focus, attain specified targets, work within budgets.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills.

Desirable skills

  • At least 2 month’s experience working in public health, health promotion or community development.
  • Solid understanding of the principles and practice of monitoring and evaluation
  • A role model individual who does not consume alcohol, smoking and promote healthy lifestyle.

Minimum salary is TOP20,077 per annum. Starting salary will depend on qualifications and skills.

2. Corporate Communications Officer

The Tonga Health Promotion Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced candidate to join the TongaHealth team as a Corporate Communication Officer.

The key purpose of this role is to build support for TongaHealth and its strategic direction through efficient and communication strategies and initiatives that use an appropriate suite of communication tools including social media. To ensure professional presentation of all TongaHealth documentation and assist to develop and manage corporate communication budgets. Develop, manage, and implement any other projects as required by the CEO and managing the TongaHeatlh quarterly newsletter.

Minimum requirements for the role

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three to four years of experience in the field, as well as a diploma, or higher education in media and journalism or communication studies.

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience/qualification in media management, marketing, journalism, or public relations
  • Superior oral and written communication skills and experience in production of written communications which may include media releases, corporate publications and newsletters, and social media and in corporate layout of reports and website etc.
  • Excellent skills in IT, graphic design and managing website and IT software.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically plan, manage and coordinate corporate events, VIP, and media visits.
  • Good time-management skills with the ability to manage and work under conflicting and tight deadlines.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders from senior government officers to the community.
  • Demonstrated understanding of major issues in the public health and NCD prevention and control.

Salary:

  • Minimum salary is TOP20,077 per annum but starting salary will depend on qualifications, skills, and experience.
